George Urena
Guitar, bass, mandolin, ukelele, harmonica, vocals
George thinks of himself as a Rock Star. . . the problem is that most of the world doesn't know it yet -- but he is a bit of a legend in in the IE music scene. He has been playing guitar, bass, and singing around the southland and beyond for more than 35 years. It's a rare venue he hasn't played.
"I love vintage guitars and amps and play Gretsch, Fender, Rickenbacker, and G&L guitars with Fender and Marshall amps. When I'm not at a show or in the studio, I teach. That's right, I'm trying to make the world a better place one wacky kid at a time. As a teacher, I am a bit of a rebel. I try to get kids to think for themselves and take responsibility for their own education. It actually works with some of them."
George says that what makes him tick is playing a lot of different kinds of music with a bunch of great musicians, from heavy to soft, funk to punk, and everything in between.
